A tornado bears down on a small Ohio town. It snaps giant trees in half as if they were toothpicks. It drives house beams through cars at 200 mph.
It kills.
Greg Duncan stands in the path of the twister. As a first responder, his obligation is to serve his community. As a single dad, his heart tells him to protect his little girl.
The tornado is moving fast. He has almost no time to choose.

I'm a big fan of disaster movies so this book was right up my alley (tornado alley?) I really enjoyed the characters and how the action was described. Everything was surprisingly believable, saying this as someone who's never lived through a tornado, and I had a lot of fun reading this book, my first from this author. If I had to point out one thing I didn't actually like was that the ending was a little anti-climactic. Half the book is about the recovery after the tornado so on that note it wasn't like your average disaster movie. But I liked it enough to start reading another of Lou Cadle's novels right afterwards.

Storm edition by Lou Cadle Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
An unbelievable book about a single man's efforts in the midst of total destruction.
A tornado has touched down in a small Ohio town and Greg is on alert with the rest of the police to try and make sure everyone gets to shelter. But he is also the single parent of a vibrant little girl, Holly. He is torn between duty and family as time runs out and he has to react as quickly as possible.
His aunt also lives in town and is visiting her husband in a nursing home, suffering from Alzheimer's. She also must balance her concerns of her nephew and his daughter with the plight that she is in an immobile loved one.
This book was intense in its details of the power of Mother Nature and the overall grasp of such total devastation. The characters are beautifully and realistically formed to invoke a roller coaster of emotion while reading. Mr. Cadle has done an amazing job with this story and I look forward to searching out more of his books. Well done!
I always wanted to storm chase (well, not really anymore), but then you hear the other side of it and it's hard to imagine what many in the mid-west go through each storm season always wondering if a tornado will hit them.
I don't understand why newer homes aren't built with basements in the plans? Nothing has changed about tornados now and tornados decades ago. They save lives.
When I was eight, we went through a 7.0 earthquake and were less than ten miles from the epicenter. My sister and I shared a room being little and had floors. I remember our beds sliding from one side of the room to the next. Whether you're a kid or an adult, it feels like the world is falling apart around you.
The noise was so loud.
I'll never forget it. The little ones don't bother me; I'm so used to them.
Good natural disaster story. Kept me reading way past my bedtime.
lou cadle is a great author! waiting on his latest!
haven't read yet. cant wait though.
Very interesting novel about a tornado that nearly destroyed a small town. Well written. Excellent story about how the storm impacted the life 's a policeman. I am sure in real life, many people endure similar experiences. Very believable
Oof I can finally relax! I must say this author is quite capable of making you go through the gamut of feelings. First his description of the storm is so realistic, you can feel the tension of the protagonist. Feel his pain, his worry and exertïon. I was sorry it ended so fast. I enjoyed this author so much, I downloaded all of his books. I recommend The Storm. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did
Another winner from Lou Cadle. I began reading her work after loving the covers. Yes, I bought all the books just by covers. And I am so glad I did.
Tornadoes are one of the stars of the book. But what makes the storyline are the humans. Greg is a single Dad who is also a police officer. He is to protect and serve. But Mother Nature has other plans for him. And his child. I can't say more....spoilers. But trust me, the story arc for this is brilliant. You can feel the despair, sadness and hope from Lou's writing.
Don't let this pass you by. Grab the book, read and then buy all her books. You may thank me later. )
